It took pretty much everything I had to defeat Victoria Travis at Super Brawl, but it was worth it.
Sure, I'm not about to believe this is actually completely done. If Victoria has proved anything at all, it's that it's pretty much impossible to put her down for good. Frankly, for all of that effort, I may have even only earned us a short reprieve, at best. Again, though... It was worth it. It was worth it to prove to her and the entire world that no matter what she brings our way, we can handle it. No matter what she tries to do to us, we will keep getting back up, and we will keep fighting. That doesn't just go for her, either. Anybody that wants to try to hurt us or anybody we care about, well... We'll keep fighting, and we'll keep stopping you, even if we have to fight until we can't anymore. Victoria may come at us again, but now she knows that there is nothing she can do that will ever put us down for good, and that was worth fighting for.
Now, it's nice to move on to a challenge against somebody who isn't out to hurt us. Matt "Redline" Stevens certainly has a history here, and he's a talent I'm more than happy to test myself against.
"You know, there's not a lot I can say that Avery hasn't already said. I may not respect everything Matt Stevens has done in all of his time here in Chaotic Pro Wrestling, but I certainly respect the talent he has proved himself to be, time and time again. He's proved himself against some of the best this business has ever seen. That said, after the last Pure Mayhem, I think Avery has a good argument for adding herself to that list of greats, because she took everything Redline threw at her, and she came out on top. Now, this is my chance to prove myself like she did.
I've always said that Avery is the better of the two of us, and I truly believe that. That match last week? I think that goes a far way in proving that and silencing the doubters even more. I want nothing more than to see Avery continue to grow and meet her potential... I want to see her become the star I really know she can be. That said, I don't want to be left behind, either. This week, I have the chance to test myself against Matt, too, and I'm going to give everything I've got to rise to that occasion. The opportunity to prove what I can do in that ring, when I'm not fighting somebody who is out to destroy me... This is an opportunity I can't let slip away.
Avery proved herself, and now I get my chance. I can't take this lightly, I understand what this could mean for me. This is a chance to show that I don't just step it up when things are personal, I can be a real force in that ring even without those stakes. I'm a champion, and I've barely had the chance to show it. Well, this is that chance. Matt, I know you want to rekindle that feeling of when you were fighting the greats of your time... But, like Avery, maybe I can help you capture that feeling, too. Like Avery, I want to be a great of right now. I want people to see that I can bounce back from the constant attacks from people like Victoria Travis, and move on to getting back to how I really want to prove myself.
I think we both have something to prove. I've just gotta fight to show that I'm worthy of standing right next to Avery while we show everybody that we're more than just what we're capable of when our backs are to the wall."
I wanted to move on from Victoria. I wanted to get back to just proving myself in that ring, to show how much I've grown in this business that I've always wanted to give so much to, and this was an opportunity for that if I ever saw one. Avery made her mark, I just needed to make mine.
