The wet winter brought an even wetter spring as we hear the wind howling as it cuts between buildings while the rain falling hits like icy pins to the touch of your skin. Around Boston the sidewalks were almost baren except for a few homeless huddling under awnings asking for change and those exiting buses and rushing to get down to the trains under the city. But in the distance we see someone running up Tremont Street, their gym shorts and black hoodie soaked but where others find discomfort some find relief as they get closer. Crossing the road and avoiding a passing bus we watch as his run slows down as he approaches the benches outside of Park Street Station and takes a seat.
Moving closer we can see it’s Gavin soaked from head to toe but unbothered none the less. He had a week to go before Damnation and a Day and wasn’t going to let a little rain get in the way of him preparing. As he pulls back his red sox cap that’s stuck to his hood he shakes his soaked hair like a dog before pushing his bangs back and putting the hat and hood combo back on. Not doing much other then to stop the water from dripping over his eyes as he finally acknowledges the camera.
“You know going into a match like the Elimination Chamber I’d be more worried about how everyone wants to cash in their rain checks on me. And between Lopez, Joe, and Kelly I know they all want there pound of flesh. But its an odd feeling going into a match and holding two of the top titles in this company and not being the most hated person. That honor has been bestowed to the rampaging man child we’ve all collectively grown to loath the man simply known as Disturbed.”
“But what’s disturbing isn’t his choice of ring name or his in ring actions; its how he has tantrum after tantrum, throwing things like a spoiled child and is still rewarded. And maybe that’s Klesko being a bad parent and refusing to punish and instead reward. But he knows that regardless of the things I carry he is target #1 come Sunday. He’s the biggest, he’s the strongest, and truth be told he’s probably the most favored to win given the circumstances and environment at hand. But he isn’t the same colossus that he once was if you asked me. I feel like time is finally catching up on old Ironsides and the rust is showing.”
Gavin smirks as he wipes the rain off his face.
“Matches like these look like they are designed for the monsters among men, no escape and unforgiving steal. Its easy to rag doll others who are smaller than you; but the longer this match goes on, the longer you stay inside the more it takes away from you. Like a vampire it sucks off your essence and drains you if you’re not prepared. This isn’t just a match it’s an endurance race and people like Dissy.”
Gavin pauses as he chuckles at his joke.
“I like Dissy, it’s what I am going to call you from now on.”
Smirking we watch as Gavin wipes the rain off his face once more.
“Now people like Dissy are going to get gassed, they may look like a tank but the more this structure pushes the more you begin to give in to exhaustion. And before you know it in one swift moment you find yourself on your back staring at the roof, paralyzed from the weight your body can’t bear to hold anymore. If this was ten years ago when you made the jump from New Era to Chaotic Pro I’d be singing a different tune, I’d actually be worried about losing. And sure, I’m worried about losing but not to you; there are five people in this match gunning to take my title and you’re the least of my worries.”
“And knowing you you’re going to huff and puff but at the end you will be exposed as a fraud because you’re not the big bad wolf. You’re just a pup trying to break down a house of brick. And whether it be at my hand, or Joe’s or Kelly’s or your own you are not walking out as the champion. You’re coming in a failure, and you’re walking out a failure Dissy. And the only person who fails to see the reality of this is you.”
“The only person who truly believes in you is you and I think deep down in that thick mush of a brain you have you are even doubting yourself. And I’m sure you will come out with this grand speech cutting down everyone with your words as a precursor to your actions. But you don’t believe half of what you say these days bud, I can see it in your glassy eyes when they’re looking up at the ceiling and your on your back.”
Gavin pauses as he smirks to the camera.
“I just hope you are aware of what will happen to you because regardless of if you start this match or are the final entrant there’s a bounty on your head, and blood will be shed.”
Standing up as the rain begins to fall harder we watch as Gavin stretch his arms out before standing up and begins to run off, disappearing up Tremont Street and out of sight as the camera fades to black.
