Two weeks had passed since Damnation and a Day but the gash above Gavin’s right eyebrow was still lingering. Not fully closed but healing none the nonetheless as the camera focus in and we find Gavin sitting in silence of some backroom turned locker in the Smoothie King Center. Gavin just sits in silence, staring at the picture he had received before his match from his son. Some could argue that maybe Gavin was in a different headspace in the chamber, that maybe he was distracted. But regardless of theories of how or why the reality is he lost and was no longer the Xtreme Chaos Champion.
But tonight was a new day, another night at the office to remind people that he’s only gotten better since his return. And with Lopez across the ring he knew that the message sent with whatever goes down would be loud and clear to all who are misfortunate to watch the carnage that unfold. Taking a deep breath in we watch as Gavin puts down his phone and acknowledges the camera as he looks to the lens.
“I lost.”
Gavin says calmly.
“Joe was the best of the best at Damnation and a Day and walked out as the Xtreme Chaos Champion. He proved that Summer was going to last a little longer than I had planned it too. But I can assure you he felt the bitter bite of winter’s chill when it came down to the two of us. We traded punches left and right like an unleashed inferno vs. a remorseless winter. But while he took a piece of me I made sure I got a piece of him and our fate written in blood however this turns out.”
Gavin smirks as he stands up to stretch, pacing the room for a moment before sitting back down.
“But tonight it isn’t Joe across the ring from me; it’s my old friend Francisco Lopez for the who fucking cares at this point time. If there is one thing, I can assure from the match tonight it’s that violence will be served by the truckload. On one side of the ring you have Lopez who’s hungry to prove that he isn’t everyone’s bitch like I called him two weeks ago. And it’s a daunting task to break free from I mean you were the 4th person to enter the match, Joe and Kelly had already gone to war with one another and then to war with Mrs. Daisey. And yet you got eliminated 2nd, mere seconds after Mrs. Daisey had been eliminated.”
We see that sly smirk Gavin loves to wear strike the corner of his face.
“Truth be told I don’t fully understand why we got placed into this match because it should have been Kelly and I. The last two champs fighting one another in singles competition for the first time. But I guess that’s a match for another reality. So instead, I guess I am going to have to do what I always do bud; and that’s drag you to hell and show you why you belong with the maggots.”
“Ya see Lopez I want to like you; we’re two New England kids raised by bitter winters and even bitter realities. But while you constantly try to find the light you need to understand that sometimes all you can do is accept the darkness. Embrace the hate that lives inside you because if you can’t you’re never going to go anywhere. You may be the man without fear but if you saw a glimpse of what goes through my mind you’d be hiding under your bedsheets praying for the nightmares to end.”
Pausing for a moment we watch as Gavin reaches down and grab that same Denni Summers shirt he had worn at Damnation and a Day except now paired with dry blood.
“You got a choice Lopez you can continue living in this delusional world you try ever so desperately to cling onto. Or you can just give in to the darkness that creeps behind your eyes and become the New Haven Hate Machine you’re destoned to be. It’s time to say fuck being nice and start being violent. So when that bell rings I want you to fight like your life depends on it or else I’m going to fucking ruin you once more.”
Grabbing his phone we watch as Gavin goes to exit his locker before pausing in his step, the door half open as he looks over his shoulder.
“Don’t break my heart Cisco, I don’t think I could handle being let down by you again.”
Chuckling like some sadistic cunt we watch as Gavin exits the room as the video feed cuts to black.
