“Stepping Up In Class”
[This blog was posted by the Webmaster at MattStevens.com]
Two-and-zero, we’re on a roll, bitch. Matt Stevens’ life is undoubtedly on the rise. He came out of a four year wrestling hiatus to win his first two bouts in Chaotic Pro Wrestling and ultimately has given himself a chance to become the #1 Contender to the Karen DiMarcio’s Devastation Championship. If he is going to actually achieve this then he will be in for a long, long night at this Sunday’s upcoming Summer Blast-Off Pay-Per-View. In the opening match of the evening we will see the CPW rookie taking on three of the most established names in the history of the company.
The first ever King of Chaos winner, Christopher “Prismatic” Wise will be joined by 2007’s winner, Ninja. Add former Xtreme Chaos Champion “Krazy” Kris Slade to the mix and you’ve got one doozy of a match right there. Now, if Matt is able to live up to the lofty heights that he has set himself and overcome these three established superstars, his night will still not be finished, no, it’ll only get more serious from there on.
Jess Amazing currently knows that he will be in a match a little later that night and that the winner of that particular match will become the #1 Contender to the Devastation Championship. The deal with this is that the winner of the Four-Way Dance will join Jess Amazing in one last match, and the winner of that will face Karen DiMarcio at a later date. The stakes are high, the pressure is intense… can Matthew “Redline” Stevens do the seemingly unthinkable and put himself in with a chance of capturing the Championship gold that has been seemingly locked around Karen’s waist for almost half a year? All this sounds all the more impressive when you factor in the fact that Matt Stevens has only had two matches in CPW thus far.
It could be argued that he is the fastest rising star in Chaotic Pro Wrestling, but one thing is for sure. Matt will be taking a huge step up in class at this Sunday’s Pay-Per-View, and I say that with all due respect towards his previous opponents, Shane Insane and Chris Johnson. Shane’s a complete psycho on the microphone but when he steps in the squared circle he seems to lose his edge, and well… what can we say about Chris Johnson? All those title wins really mean nothing in the long term, he couldn’t even defeat Redline by traveling to the future in his crazy time machine.
All jokes aside though, things are about to get serious. In just a few days time CPW will get to see whether the hype behind this kid is for real or not. We here at MattStevens.com all know that Matt’s no joke, we’ve followed him his whole career. We’ve seen all the glorious ups, and all the devastating downs… but come Sunday at CPW’s Summer Blast-Off, I have a feeling that the self-proclaimed “Gift From God” will be experiencing what could very well be argued to be the finest night of his wrestling life.
Take care,

[Our scene opens inside the Staples Center, the location of many recent Pure Mayhem and Pure Chaos events, and also the very same location for the Pay-Per-View on Sunday. The crew had not yet disassembled the CPW ring after Monday night’s edition of Pure Chaos, and if it weren’t for the upcoming LA Lakers vs. San Antonio Spurs NBA game, the ring would have probably been kept up the whole week in preparation for Summer Blast-Off.]
[The arena is naturally near empty, the only exceptions being a few Staples Center staff cleaning up around the seating areas and then our main man, Matt “Redline” Stevens sitting on the ring apron staring into the camera with a focused, determined, “I’m going to shock CPW” kind-of-look on his face.]
MATTHEW “REDLINE” STEVENS:
It’s just another day at the office, they say. It’s just another walk in the park, they say. It’s just another run-of-the-mill match, the say. This is the sort of stuff that is likely to come out of my experienced opponents during the week. Is it, though? For Krazy, Christopher and Ninja… maybe, but for me? Hell no. This is do or die for me. You have no idea how seriously I am taking this opportunity that has been given to me by the CPW leadership. The last time I felt this psyched about a wrestling event was the night that I became Supremacy Champion in Tyler Shane’s Supremacy Wrestling… that was undoubtedly the greatest night of my life so far, but come Sunday… that’s all about to change.
[To the casual, dare I say… ignorant CPW fan Matt Stevens was a relative unknown with little to no experience and absolutely no chance in hell of overcoming three seasoned veterans in Ninja, Christopher Wise and Kris Slade. As far as they were concerned he was being put in the match as a filler, a sacrificial lamb so-to-speak. The problem with that was that Matt laid down for nobody… well, for Steffi Miretti perhaps but that would be for a later date.]
MATTHEW “REDLINE” STEVENS:
What the hell have I got to lose, ya know what I mean? If some random kid came in here tomorrow and told me that he’d become the #1 Contender to the Devastation Championship then I’d probably tell him he was crazy, just like everyone was thinking when I came in here and on day one proclaimed myself to be something great, someone that would one day climb to the very top the become Xtreme Chaos Champion. Well, that very thing is happening right now. History is rewriting itself. I’m not going into Sunday with an attitude of “Oh well, lets just show up and see what happens… I probably won’t win but what the hell”, no freaking way, I’m coming to win.
[Matt pulls himself up off the ring apron and enters the squared circle. He begins to shadow box as he continues to speak.]
MATTHEW “REDLINE” STEVENS:
…And honestly? I don’t see any reason why I should be considered such an underdog. Lets just break it down. We have the first ever King of Chaos Champion in Christopher “Prismatic” Wise; this guy hasn’t been around in this company for an eternity. We then have a former Xtreme Chaos Champion in Kris Slade… come on now, if any of you blind fans believe that his XC reign was actually legit then you’re very disillusioned. He was around at a time when most of the top tier guys weren’t, and back then CPW was nowhere near what it is today in terms of competitiveness. Finally, we have the reigning King of Chaos, Ninja. What can I say about this guy?
[Matt stops for a second and leans over the ropes. He did not have much time for the likes of Prismatic and Krazy, but when it came to Ninja, he had a respect for him. He knew that he was a dangerous guy and that at least in his eyes had the potential to be a future Xtreme Chaos Champion. Something was holding Ninja back from doing so though, and Matt didn’t quite understand what that was.]
MATTHEW “REDLINE” STEVENS:
I have a lot of time for you Ninja, I’ve seen some of your matches in CPW and I have to admit, I am impressed. You’ve got tons of potential, and it’ll be an honor for me step in the ring with you and see how my skills match up with yours. I really feel that if you wanted to, you could be the next guy to step up to that next tier of competition and join the likes of Karen DiMarcio and Axl James Slade. This time next year it could be you joining them two in the main event of a Pay-Per-View… if only you would start to capitalize on some of the opportunities that are being fed to you.
[That was his main gripe when it came to analyzing Ninja. All the potential in the world, and yet time after time he would blow it on the big stage. Matt was counting on this happening again at Summer Blast-Off.]
MATTHEW “REDLINE” STEVENS:
I hope you realize how big of a deal this is, man. I hope that you’re not just resting on the fact that you’re a King of Chaos. I hope that you don’t consider winning that tournament to be the pinnacle of what you can do here in CPW, because if it is, then I feel sorry for you. We’re similar in many ways but when it comes to getting the job done, I will use any means necessary, and if it means sacrificing friendships, ending loyalties, destroying dreams… then so be it. I’ve been through all that before, and I have no problem going back and doing it again. Ninja, I’m sure your time in the limelight will come, but it won’t happen this Sunday as long as I have anything to do with it.
[Was Redline really considered an underdog though? Deep down I think Matt knew that he had just as good of a chance as anyone in the match, but he preferred to be known as the underdog in front of the camera. This took the pressure off his shoulders a little bit, whether this would convince his opponents to take him lightly was a completely different matter.]
MATTHEW “REDLINE” STEVENS:
There’s something else that bugs me about you Ninja. When I draw all that to the side, when I factor in the fact that you’re a choke artist and that you’re seemingly unable to take the next step up in class, no, becoming 2007’s King of Chaos does not count, we all know how weak that competition was in terms of depth. The thing that bugs me the most is that you end up tapping some fine CPW ass, some ass that you do not deserve. I don’t see what Claira sees in you. Is it that she likes to associate herself with losers like yourself? I don’t know. Obviously what she possesses natural beauty is negated by the apparent fact that she has no taste and the brain the size of a peanut. Just do me and the rest of the roster a favor… keep your little romantic drivel to yourselves, we don’t want to hear about it.
[Could it be that Redline was somewhat jealous of Ninja’s accomplishments and his relationship? Was it that Matt actually wanted everything Ninja had?]
MATTHEW “REDLINE” STEVENS:
All of this aside, I wish you boys the very best of luck. I’m going to be bringing everything I have in order to pull this one out of the bag and go one step closer to accomplishing my goal to be a champion here, thus, making my “dreams” a reality. God sent me down to this planet with a gift of tremendous wrestling prowess. Ninja, Pris, Krazy… you select three will be both the lucky and unlucky victims of this. On one hand, you get to see a true technician at work, but on the other hand… you will see a man that will do whatever it takes to win… by any means… necessary.
[Redline smirks confidently and our scene begins to fade to black. The first in what could very well be a long war of words has been struck. The so-called rookie and underdog Matthew “Redline” Stevens has laid down his claims, and it will be up to his opponents to strike back in the verbal mind games ahead of one of the biggest nights of their careers.]
