Very few RPs were actually nominated - I'm a bit disappointed. Here's my breakdown on each one.
Diary of a Madman: It was entertaining and fun to read, not to mention it gave us some serious insight into just how fucking insane Chris Stone/Hyde actually is. The problem with this RP, in my opinion, is that while the content is great, the style came off a bit too mechanical and formulaic. The dialogue was good, but the narrative bits left more to be desired.
Who Is Seth Dillinger?: Fucking fantastic RP, Anson. I've read it multiple times. The jumping between timelines really worked well here and for the first time ever, I really felt like I could relate to Warren on a personal level. It really brought some character to the...well, character. This is where my personal bias comes in, but I was blown away by how well you described Seth & Warren's relationship, because you did it in a way I only wish I could have. Fucking awesome job. I think the ending might have been a bit on the weak side. "I am... a homosexual" seems like a bit of an obvious way to end it and another choice of wording might've had it end on that powerful note we wanted, but the rest of the RP was so fucking fantastic it hardly matters.
Not The Years Between.: Once again, Steve proves why he's one of my favorite writers around here. His RPs have that pitch-perfect style that walks the line between "Damn, I'm cool" and "Holy fuck, I'm crazy". It's not just the dialogue or the actions... Steve has a very unique way of blurring the line between what we think we're reading and what we're actually reading. Little colloquialisms like "tasty dish" never remove us from Duke's perspective and we always hear his voice coming through, strong. However, if I may critique one thing, the RP felt a little too...broad. When I finished reading it, I wasn't sure what it was you were exactly trying to accomplish. What it was that you wanted us to know about Duke that we didn't know before? It's a weird position to judge anything since this was a goodbye RP, but it's definitely going to give Anson's a run for its money. Both were phenomenal.

Like Will, I do feel as though more RPs should have been nominated. Though, I think we had close to 1500 RPs or so on the year, so...narrowing it down and getting a truly complete list is pretty damn difficult. Of the ones nominated, Diary of a Madman was probably the weakest. It was a strong RP, don't get me wrong...and it did everything that Will said in his comments, and I really enjoyed reading it. However, I'm not even necessarily sure that it was my favorite Hyde RP of the year. Quite a few of his RPs managed to accomplish what this one did, and everything he did managed to build on what happened before it. It led to a series of very entertaining reads...but I don't necessarily know if it led to a singular RP that I'd consider to be the best of the year. Who Is Seth Dillinger was a very well-written RP, and probably one of Anson's best of the year. He had given us glimpses of what the Warren character was like before this RP, but this was probably the first time that he let us truly see what the character was like, and made us actually care about him. The story-telling throughout the RP was also well-done. I don't necessarily feel as strongly about it as Will seems to, but even in spite of that, I can't at all argue that this RP deserves to be here. Not The Years Between. is probably the strongest of these three RPs, mainly because it so perfectly fits what a Duke Jupiter RP should be. The writing is strong, the voice and the tone of the RP are consistently Duke's, the story of the RP is told incredibly well and is very enjoyable...and unlike Will, I'd argue the fact that it accomplishes nothing actually helps make it stronger. We were supposed to believe that Duke wasn't active when it was posted. What better way to help show that than an RP that ultimately ends up accomplishing nothing in particular, without a strong focus to drive it? There are a ton of other RPs that probably deserve to be mentioned here, and I'd like to nominate one myself. Since we're combining this category with the ranting category, I'd like to nominate Should Have Stayed Dead. There were a lot of really good rants by a lot of people this year, but this one stands out to me because of just how effective it was. It was one of the few rants that I can remember going "Well...shit." when I finished reading it, and I'm pretty sure it even helped Will realize that there were quite a few flaws with how Tyler was being played at the time (could have been another RP. I do remember talking to him after a rant against the character about what he could do to fix the character's direction, though...pretty sure it was this one). For a rant to hit that hard...it was pretty damn good. Would love for a few other people to try and remember RPs they really liked and nominate them, though.

I nominated Not the Years Between, and for good reason. It had always been brought up in conversation between multiple people how good Duke was, and I could recognize it ---but this was the RP that really made me believe it. Forget the year, this may be one of the strongest RPs this fed has ever seen in the eight or so odd years it's been running.

I understand u all have ur arguments but I actually liked Diary of a Madman the most.
It entertained me through out. I wasn't intimidated by the mere sight of the rp. I didn't have to pay attention to the storyline to be entertained by the rp although looking back that helped as well. It wasn't too long.
I like short, entertaining reads that satisfy me. Some people write paragraphs (I'm guilty) some write novels. This was in that comfort zone of decent length without boring you. Reading it wasn't like watching pain dry either bc a lot of "Good" rps here do that to me. Maybe it's just my particular tastes but this rp hit me exactly where i needed to be hit. It was everything I liked in an rp.
