”This match is going to be fun, for a few reasons…”
Look, Harper is absolutely right when she says an opportunity like this is huge. It really is. We have a chance, at Pure Mayhem, to defeat the current Triple Crown Champions, which would certainly throw our hat into the ring for a title shot. That said, that’s not the only reason I’m looking forward to this.
”Red was right when she said this is a dream come true. We’ve been wanting to get a chance to really prove ourselves as a team for awhile, now, and this is about as big of an opportunity as it gets. That’s big, it makes this match great already. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t interested in seeing how we stack up against the champs, myself. That said, there’s something else that I’m really looking forward to, and it’s actually pretty simple.
Before the title match at Damnation and a Day even began, you all noticed how eagerly certain other teams seemed to want to make clear that they were aiming for the titles, too, right? Teams like Divalicious and Sang Réal. You know, teams that are made up of absolutely terrible, horrible, awful people that don’t deserve nice things in life. Yeah, those kinds of teams. I, like I’m sure is true of most of you, had the normal reaction one might have to seeing those teams trying to stake their claim: I gagged, and threw up in my mouth a little… Yeah, it wasn’t pleasant. Anyway, fast forward to when this week’s Pure Mayhem is announced, and I see Red and I getting a match with the champs. Again, that’s a huge opportunity, and I love it. It’s also an opportunity for something not as great, but probably just as much fun: I get to play spoiler again!
Now, hey, I know… Playing spoiler at King of Chaos didn’t exactly work out as much as I would have liked. Joe beat me fair and square, and that’s fine. It is what it is, no hard feelings, etc., and so on. Atleast I like Joe, right? The other two teams so blatantly eying the titles now, though… Why, I don’t like them at all! That’s what makes this so sweet. I want to ruin these people’s day so, so badly. Trust me, there’s not a whole lot better than seeing Sang Réal stamp their feet and cry about how they’re not being respected as the “standard bearers” of the division, or whatever they keep trying to call themselves, and I think it’d be equally as fun to watch Divalicious pout while they… I don’t know, get stuck trying to push their way out of the arena through a “Pull” door. That seems like something they’d do, and I so want to be there for it. Regardless, playing spoiler here for them will bring me so much joy that I can’t even begin to describe it, so we need to win.
Don’t take this the wrong way, though, Ripper. You’re still the ones we’re facing right now, you’re the ones we’ve gotta beat. I promise that you have my full attention, too… Because as much as I want to play spoiler for the others, it can only happen if we beat you at Pure Mayhem. If we defeat you, and we stake our claim to a title shot, we’re taking something away from Divalicious and Sang Réal, or atleast getting in their way, and that’s something that makes this even better, to me. Call me petty, that’d probably be accurate, but, well… Does anybody really disagree with me, here? This couldn’t be happening to better people, right?
At the end of the day, though, this is an opportunity for me and Red, specifically. We get to prove ourselves as a team, and we get to work together without damn near fighting for our lives for the first time in… Well, too long. I know this won’t be easy, but it’s a challenge I’m more than ready to step up for. Trust me, I’m focused on that, first and foremost. All I’m saying is, well… Winning has more perks than may be readily obvious.”
Judge me, but before you do, ask yourself if you’d really think any differently, in my position. Believe me, I know the real goal. If Harper and I can earn a shot at the Triple Crown Championships, well… It’d make fighting so hard, for so long, a little bit more worth it. If we can show that we can rise above the people that try to drag us down, and still accomplish our goals… That’s a pretty good way to encourage others, don’t you think? It just so happens that getting to spoil the moods of Divalicious and Sang Réal is a pretty damn great side effect.
